Intimacy and Discipline — A Garden for the Soul
Cultivating What Matters
Intimacy with God is the goal. Discipline is the way to get there.
Intimacy means closeness - being unguarded with Him and sharing your deepest fears and joys without shame. Discipline is the intentional framework that maintains intimacy.
Like a gardener, we must tend the soil, remove the weeds, and nurture the plants. Weeds of distraction, pride, and sin need to be taken out. Healthy habits of prayer, worship, and study should be cultivated.
Paul said his “determined purpose” was to know Christ personally and deeply (Philippians 3:10). That’s our aim too — a flourishing relationship that overflows into every part of life.
Call to Action: Identify one “weed” in your spiritual life that needs removing and one “plant” that needs watering - and take one practical step toward each today.
