The Power of Adoration

When we pray, we often focus on our needs first. We begin with, “Lord, help me…” or “God, I need…” But something powerful happens when we start with praise.

Adoration shifts our hearts’ focus. It redirects our gaze from our problems to the greatness of our God. Psalm 100:4 instructs us to “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.” In essence, worship serves as the gateway to deeper prayer.

When I start with adoration, I notice my faith growing before I even make a request. The more I focus on God’s character - His goodness, power, and faithfulness - the more my worries diminish in comparison.

Practical Step: Each morning this week, write down three attributes of God. Start your prayer time by thanking Him for each one.
