Created for Conversation
When trouble arises, our instincts activate. Even people who rarely consider God often say, “I’ll pray for you” or “Keep me in your prayers.” It’s as if something deep inside us knows there’s Someone beyond ourselves we can turn to.
That’s not an accident. You and I are designed for conversation with God. Not just in emergencies or when we have no options left, but every day - because prayer is at the core of why we were created.
Genesis 3:8 illustrates a beautiful scene: “Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day…” This was not a one-time event. Before sin entered the world, God and humanity enjoyed constant fellowship.
Prayer is not mainly about getting something from God. It’s about being with Him. We’ve turned it into a list of requests or a cry for help in times of trouble, but in its purest form, prayer is about relationship. It’s like a good friendship - you don’t only call when you need a ride to the airport; you call because you want to connect.
Practical Step: This week, begin each morning by spending five minutes sitting in God’s presence. No requests. No agenda. Just be with Him.
