Why Did Jesus Die?
Human Reasons, Divine Purpose
From a human perspective, Jesus died due to betrayal, politics, and injustice. Religious leaders viewed Him as a threat. The Roman authorities desired peace. Soldiers carried out their orders.
But from God’s perspective, something much greater was in motion:
He died to bear our sins (1 Peter 2:24).
He died to reconcile us to God (Romans 5:10).
He died to defeat sin and death (Hebrews 2:14).
He died to demonstrate love (Romans 5:8).
Love in Action
The cross wasn’t an accident; it was an offering. Jesus said, “No one takes my life from me. I lay it down of my own accord” (John 10:18). Love, not force, kept Him there.
For You
