Seduced Away from Simplicity

Paul’s Fear for the Church

Paul told the Corinthian church:

"I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ." — 2 Corinthians 11:3

He compared himself to a matchmaker who had promised a pure bride to Christ. But he recognized the risk of believers being slowly and subtly drawn away from simple devotion.

Even today, the Gospel is often surrounded by extra rules, moral compromises, or intellectual trends. But knowing Christ has always been simple: turn from sin, love Him wholeheartedly, walk with Him daily.

Call to Action: Examine whether your faith life is becoming more complicated than Christ intended. Where can I return to the simplicity of devotion?
