Five Sources of Mental Clutter

Clearing the Obstacles

If we’re honest, we all have common clutter-makers in our lives.

  1. Saying yes to too many things leaves no room for quiet time with God.

  2. No time for genuine rest. We fill every gap instead of scheduling “rest” into our routines.

  3. Never feeling the joy of accomplishment. We rush from project to project without stopping to celebrate what’s done (Proverbs 13:19).

  4. Living in debt. Proverbs 22:7 warns that “the borrower is servant to the lender.” Debt keeps us in bondage.

  5. Technology overload. Tools meant to free us often enslave us to busier, more crowded schedules.

Before we realize it, the day is gone, and we promise ourselves we’ll “do it tomorrow.”
