Silence and Solitude
The Next Step Toward Intimacy with God
We’ve been discussing intimacy and discipline. Intimacy involves being completely open before God - willing to share our deepest fears, our most guarded secrets, and our greatest joys without shame. Discipline is the process of reaching that point - intentionally cultivating inner order and creating space for God.
Our “determined purpose” must match Paul’s in Philippians 3:10:
"That I may know Him - that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him… and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed into His likeness."
Last time, we focused on simplifying our lives and clearing our minds. Now, we move to the next step: practicing silence and solitude.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Silence is the result of stillness - and it opens the door to knowing God in ways that constant activity cannot.
Call to Action: This week, dedicate a quiet, undisturbed block of time - even just 10 minutes - to be still before God.
