The Slow Work of God

In a culture that prizes speed, Jesus invites us to slow down. Spiritual formation is rarely instant; it’s more like gardening than microwaving.

You can’t rush a seed into fruitfulness. You prepare the soil, tend the roots, water faithfully, and trust the growth to God. “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow” (1 Corinthians 3:6). The same is true for our souls.

Slowness doesn’t mean stagnation — it means we’re giving God the time and space to do deep work. In bars, coffee shops, homes, and city streets, we plant seeds of kindness, patience, and truth. Over time, the harvest comes.

Call to Action: Choose one spiritual practice to linger in this week — whether prayer, Scripture, or listening — and resist the urge to rush. Let God do His slow, steady work.
