When Humility Opens the Door for the Gospel
Years ago, Professor Stuart Blackie was listening to his students give oral readings. When one young man began, he held his book in the wrong hand. Blackie barked, “Take your book in your right hand and be seated!” The student quietly lifted his right arm - he had no hand.
The professor, realizing his mistake, approached the student, placed an arm around him, and with tears said, “I never knew. Please forgive me.” That moment of humility left a lasting impact, and the student later turned to Christ - something Blackie admitted would never have happened if he hadn’t made the wrong right.
Humility opens the door for God’s work in ways pride never can. Psalm 138:6 says, “Though the Lord is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar.”
