The Problem with “Self” at the Center

The Puritans recognized the battle within themselves. An ancient prayer admits: "When You would guide me, I control myself… When I should submit to Your providence, I follow my will… I fault and correct Your laws to suit myself."

Sound familiar? Most of us talk about surrender, but still pursue our own way. At the core of resisting God’s will is the word “self.”

Colossians 2:6 encourages us to live the Christian life in the same way we entered it - by surrendering and trusting Christ every day.

Call to Action: Pray, “Lord, replace my self-reliance with reliance on You” - and truly mean it.
